i bought a 2 in cowl fiberglass hood for my 80 Elco that had vent holes cut out of hood and also some of the superstructure removed under cowl....now for the problem... rear of hood won't lay flat because it hits the rivet on the hood hinge and part of the hinge is hitting back corners of hood....are there different hinges that people with same problem used ...I know i can remove some fiberglass but that might make the tip of hood flimsy ...any other suggestions or comments.

I'm looking for a fiberglass hood for my 79 Bu. I found out that a lot of fiberglass hoods are made to be pinned on a four corners and won't lay flat on hood hinges.

Sounds like just a bad hood. I had a hardwood bolt on hood on my 78 and did not move the hinges at all to put the hood on.

I know this is an old thread and I apologize if you already have this figured out. I have a 5" glastek Sunoco hood on my 87 Elco and I am going to use the hood strut system ala buick regal to keep the right amount of pressure on it and so it fits correctly. Here is link to some of them. Just need the stock regal brackets.
