Trying for a quick answer. Theres a lot of information on alternators and I have read until I'm almost cross eyed.
My question is for the indicator circuit. I put a 92 chevy truck tbi motor in my car years ago. I hooked the one and only one wire coming from the alternator (brown in color. "L" terminal) to the charge indicator light. everything fuctioned fine. Now I'm redoing my dash with aftermarket gauges. My question is can I run a led and a resistor in series to simulate the removal of the factory bulb. If so what ohm resistor is needed. I'll post pics as soon as possible. Im pretty sure this is Not the cs130 alternator.

I would not recommend trying to use an LED as the current requirements are too much for most LED's. You can either add a diode or a resistor on that brown wire and then connect from the resistor to key on in run power.

I know the 10SI alternators use a 10 ohm resistor rated at 6 watts. Most parts stores have resistors just for this kind of application.

i installed cs130. from what i read the factory wiring used charge light as resistor and the wire may have also been resistor type wire at some point. I ran new wire. used the 85ohm resistor for cs130 and ran a non led light as charge light. i ran parrallel so charge light is resistor but if it fails redundancy will keep me from hurting alternator

You can run a new lead from a +12 volt switched source off of your fuse panel. I bought the adapter to convert a 10-12si alternator to a CS-130. It has the resistor built in. You could make your own. I believe Painless uses an 82 ohm, 5 watt resistor...

Keep up the good work. If you devote time to it on a regular basis, you'll have it done before you know it. Don't be discouraged.

Btw, your alternator looks like a CS130.
