Guys, My 78 Century Aeroback car is a column shift, bench seat car. I have buckets for it now, and will keep it column shift. My issue is.. I do want some kind of storage space ( phone, wallet, sun glasses, etc ). Any issues installing this? My Century / Regal dash has the sliding ash tray underneath. Is this a direct swap? Do I need Monte brackets? I've never had a bread box before, so I don't know... Your help is appreciated.

The bread box mounts to the front of the console not the dash. I take it you'll be using a Chevy console so it might be better to use the '86-'88 front coin tray & use either the manual trans shifter plate (doesn't have a opening for a shifter) or the cup holder one that Dixie & Mike's sells.

James,
I'm using a breadbox with my Pontiac GP dash and Monte Carlo console. To clear, you'll have to lose the sliding ashtray under the dash.
I also had to weld a tab on the tunnel to support the front of the breadbox. The rear is attached to the console body.

I did not want to use a center console. I was wanting to mount the bread box under the dash ( remove ash tray ). Would I need to make brackets to attach it to the dash, and a support to the floor ? It's just an idea...

Since you probably will have to fabricate something anyways maybe use everything from the ashtray mounting and have a breadbox that slides in and out from under the dash like your ashtray.
