Any shooters here? I have a question for the group. Hoping ya’ll can help. I’m having trouble with bullets tumbling out of my new build. I called Berger on Thursday and used their load recommendation. I couldn’t get any accuracy out of the loads below. I’ll provide rifle and load specs below. Any help is much appreciated.

Gun:
22-250 Remington, Curtis Axiom action, Broughton Barrel 26in 1:7 twist, MPA Lite Chassis

Load data:
Barnes 85gr Match, 35gr N160, CCI 200 LRP, OGIVE: 2.094
Hornaday 80gr ELD Match, 33gr H4350, CCI 200 LRP, OGIVE: 2.069
Berger 90gr VLD, 29.5gr H4350, CCI 200 LRP, OGIVE: 2.099
Berger 90gr VLD, 33gr H4350, CCI 200 LRP, OGIVE: 2.099
***All bullets seated in the lands at the OGIVE measurement

First thing came to mind was worn barrel but you stated it's new. Possible issue when the cut the rifling. Gauge the bore atleast at the muzzle to ensure it is in spec. Another thing you might have to play around with bullet and/or powder weight. Might even think about how it seats in the chamber. Regardless give it a good cleaning. Some of my soldiers had dirty rifles that hosed them on qualifcations cause it wasn't cleaned just right.

Tumbling means one of two things. Too short of a barrel or too much powder.... Take your pick. Same thing happens when you use 62gr rounds in an M4 instead of a M16. Only difference is barrel length.

22-250 Why?

Try a lower grain or a 1:9 twist

i had a genuine IMI Galil that regularly fired tumbling bullets (on average 14 out of 100). i tried various ammo-types, different loads, etc. I finally figured out what the problem was after a talk with a gunsmith from the german Bundeswehr: low quality barrel. I sold the Galil and swore myself that I would never ever again buy some military surplus that was produced "en masse" for wars sake. okay, if its meant to just kill somebody, a tumbling bullet performs loke a charm (shrappnell) tearing up any living tissue, but if you want precision on a range, you always go with real quality.

The answer to the question "What made the bullets keyhole?" is... Wrong twist in the barrel installed. Gunsmith is correcting the issue.
