I just tried to install a new set of Soff Seal door weatherstrip and the quality is not good. The molded ends don't fit worth a crap.

Anybody tried the door weatherstrip from Steele Rubber?

So I read where someone said that Steele Rubber gets their El Camino door weatherstrip from Metro Molded Parts.
I went ahead and called Steele Rubber and they verified that is indeed true.

So now my question is whether the Metro/Steele door weatherstrip is any better than the Soff-Seal?

Btw, the Metro El Camino door weatherstrip is the same part for Malibu models as well as Lemans, Century, Regal and Cutlass.

I'm using Metro door seals and I like 'em. A friend of mine bought a trunk seal for his Cutlass from Soff seal. He said the lid didn't close properly, it was too stiff. He ditched it and got a Metro seal, he said he liked it much better.
I think you'll get the same consensus from other guys.

I had a problem with the Metro t-top seals and they replaced them with no problems. They just asked for a few pictures and sent me another set.

There's nothing Soff-Seal could do for me unless they were going to completely redesign their molds which we know won't happen.

Glad to know the Metro are better. I may get a set as they're just $50. If those don't do it for me I guess the only thing left is to search for an NOS set.
Dixie has them but they are a spendy $500!
I saw a set advertised about a month ago for in the $200's. If I knew then what I know now, I'd have gone for them.

Thanks for the responses y'all.

Thanks for the info. Steele's prices do seem a little high. If they do actually just re-package Metro's products for the G-Body, then I think that's the way to go. Metro's prices are about 25-30% cheaper.
