Hmm that's interesting. Mine would diesel on occasion but then I discovered it was the mechanical weights in my distributor rotor were not returning to "home" which was keeping the timing too advanced. As well does your idle stop solenoid function correctly ?

I was going to buy a powermaster until I found out it was an OVERPRICED made in China piece of junk.

Did the car have this problem with the stock Alternator?

Also that is a 12si Alt if you are installing it into a G-body then a diode is not needed.

It should be plug and play

My buddy pick up a '65 Chevy II that was converted to a HEI & 12si by the last owner that kept running with the key off. Had to dig allthe way to the firewall end of the harness to redo it to function the right way. The distributor lead was bypassed under the dash & the alternater was tied into both the ignition & the old external regulator. Surprised the car never went uo in flames.
