Since #8 heads were used the most years, good chance they will be on it. Hopefully you get that block casting number and not the windowed main block. The issues are the tiny camshaft and short on height and huge 24cc dish pistons will put you at 7 to 1 compression with #8 heads. I would get a 403 reman engine, more power , closer to stock compression and can be easily upgraded with a cam an early 350 head swap. Here is another option

ATK engines are a good choice.
I purchased a sbc 350 ATK from Summit last summer and I am extremely happy with it.
Go to ATK's web site and look at the videos..

Unfortunately, an Olds 350 has nothing but garbage, huge dish cast pistons available for it. There are much better Mahle ultra modern pistons now available but are around $600 a set with the super thin 1mm ring pack. Even if they offered the ancient but adequate in height and flat top or 6cc dish Speed Pro forged pistons, it would be a huge upgrade. Why they didn't keep the 14cc cast piston or even the 6cc cast piston, instead of 24cc dish is beyond me. That is why I just put up the 403 link, which also bolts right in place and actually has the proper sized 20cc dish replacement pistons, early Olds 350 heads are 15cc smaller and flow better, makes a future upgrade super easy along with replacing the useless factory cam. The 455 I linked will also have the 40cc soup dish cast replacement pistons, very lucky to have 8 to 1 but is a 455. Good luck.

The ATK stock pictures are actually right, the 350 has #7 heads and the 403 has 4A heads, go figure.

Thanks for all of your input. I'm leaning more towards that SBO 350 over the SBO 403 because of the 403's windowed mains and stock heads. I definitely don't want a BBO 455 due to how the header tubes are usually routed for those, and my current Cutlass already has a BBB 455 in it.

Great now that I seen these I am going to have to upgrade the Cutlass to a 403.

Thanks!!:blam:
