The original suggestion from billyjack for a theme for August was "diesel swaps" i.e. removing the questionable Olds diesels and replacing it with something else, but I think that's probably way too small a cross section...

So, instead, I'll go for BOP/Cad Engine swaps. Or even anything that IS NOT either a Chevrolet (SB or BB) or LS engine of any variety. That should open it up while still keeping it a little tight. Meaning the engine you PUT IN not what you took out. Doesn't really matter what it was before the swap.

I'll leave this open until we get about 7-8 entries or it gets to be 3 days on. All the usual rules apply. Obviously we need to see that engine.

And go!!

My 79 cutlass calais that i bought and swapped in an olds 455 19 years ago. It now has a 6spd in front of an 8.5" rear with 3.42 posi. It stops with c5 front brakes and ls1 rear brakes. I daily this car all summer with a working a/c. My favorite part is the 120 mph speedo that i bought in 1988 and used in my first calais.

84 Supreme I pulled out of a junkyard back in 98 for 150$. Rod knockin V6 was scrapped and a 750 qjet 9.5-1 455 Olds put in its place. Headers are abody bbo. Slush box is a 700r4. 3.42 posi in an abody 8.5 axle in the back. 34mm fbody swaybar in the front and blazer rear swaybar. Astro van spindles and rotors up front and S10 disc in the rear. Has ran 12.0 in the 1/4. Small cam and quiet mufflers is sounds like a grandmas car.

Trip to the local 1/8 this last sunday.

Love the speedo and tach wish I had those for my wagon
I can get you the lead for speedometer being recalibrated and re faced. The tach takes some extra work but same company will put new face on clock piece and you add the tach.
