Are the gm 7.5 and gm 7.625 axle shafts/differential interchangeable? Is a g body axle the same width as a 1992 gmc jimmy axle? Opinions on buying a used limited slip Yukon gear and axle?
I have the jimmy axle and everything already I’m just wondering if the parts are interchangeableNo no no

Did you count the splines are they 28 or 26 and what carrier do you plan on usingI have the jimmy axle and everything already I’m just wondering if the parts are interchangeable
As far as I know the jimmy has 28 splines and a 7.625 rear end my gbody has 26 spline and a 7.5 rear end can I put the axle shafts and differential from the jimmy into the axle of my gbody?Did you count the splines are they 28 or 26 and what carrier do you plan on using
You can but I think the jimmy axles are a little longer the carrier will also fit I kind a remember the pinion bearing I think Has to be changed from the jimmy but not 100% sure don’t quote me on itAs far as I know the jimmy has 28 splines and a 7.625 rear end my gbody has 26 spline and a 7.5 rear end can I put the axle shafts and differential from the jimmy into the axle of my gbody?
I can get a good deal on a limited slip for the gm 7.625 rear end with 28 spline so I need to know the axle lengths of a g body and jimmyThe 7.5 and 7.6 should use the same housing, if I’m remembering correctly.
There’s also a lot of good info in here:
The Cheap Route: Putting a 7.625 in a 7.5 housing
If the 'Auburn mini locker' is an actual mini spool, then it'll suck on the street unless you have narrow, slippery tires - extremely hoppy and bangy when turning. The cheap way out is to use S10 2wd axles with a 1/4" spacer added to the backing plates to accommodate the 1/4" S10 longer axles...gbodyforum.com
As for the fine details, I’m not really sure. If you’re upgrading to hold more power, just save your money for a better axle assembly. Junkyard or otherwise.
G body is 28-7/16 inches longI can get a good deal on a limited slip for the gm 7.625 rear end with 28 spline so I need to know the axle lengths of a g body and jimmy
