Bad starter?

Recently, especially since it's gotten colder, my starter seems to be disengauging too early. It will crank it for a few seconds then recede and I'll have to wait for it to stop spinning before I can try. It's annoying as hell. Is the starter on it's way out? I think it might be the original one. If so, it's got 95,000 miles on it and been through flood waters this past May.
