Good afternoon fellas,

As some of you might now I am getting ready to do a build on my Regal. I am going with a 455 but my questions is will a 350 transmission survive behind it?

Eventually I want the 2004r that I have from a Monte SS rebuild but for now I have a 350 with around 3k miles since rebuilt.

properly built would not be a problem.

I would suggest a good shift-programming kit, a wide direct-clutch drum bushing and a tuftrided hardened intermediate roller clutch outer race.

Thanks! Once it gets closer to drivetrain time I'll have to decide if I should just rebuild and upgrade the 200r4 or build the 350 up.

The 200r4 is gonna cost a bit to upgrade so it will handle the touque of a 455. If your not planning on long trips with the car it might not be worth it.

Yea that's the bummer ..i want the OD gear. But the 350 works it was rebuilt just a couple months before I took apart the car.

I think this is the best route. I eventually want the 200r4 in the car.. But I think babying the 350 while I save for a proper upgrade is the way to go.

A buddy of mine has a 75 Lesabre convertible with a 455 and th350. He's had it for 12 years and beats the snot out of it and the 350 just takes it. Yours should hold up fine.

No neutral drops and you'll be fine :p
Get on that Th200r4 soon, you never know. Also consider your highway RPM as well. With 2.41s and half bald 195s and a th350 I'm at 2500 at 75mph. With aTh2004r and no other changes, it'd drop down to around 15-1700. I do plan on a Th200r4 eventually as well, but I'd have to get the floor shift column and cluster from a Regal, as well as a shifter, console, bucket seats, etc. Basically going for a T Type look.

With your GN rear end, 3.42s with a 235/60/15 (standard 15" wheel tire size, don't remember what wheels you were running), and a Th350 you'd be at 2800rpm at 65mph. At 65 you'd be at 1900 with the Th200r4. You could drop it down with a larger tire. But, you already have a TH200r4, and it's kind of a p.i.t.a to swap transmissions. I'd just go with that if I were you.

My memory is a little fuzzy, but did you mention what the Th350 came out of? Is it a short shaft BOP? Lockup? A 455 doesn't need a high stall converter either, but with the lockup feature on the Th200r4 that would permit you to really run whatever you wanted and get decent mpg to boot.
