I took the Monte out for a family ride and man did I smell the burning oil. Turns out I have a leak in the passenger side valve cover, towards the rear. I have the dart pro-1 aluminum heads with 10/1 compression with baffled breathers, and aluminum valve covers as well... Before I switch out the gaskets, I was wondering what valve cover gaskets you guys/gals are running with 🙂

The best I have ever found Fel-Pro Performance CorkLam Valve Cover Gaskets 1604 Cork-Lam construction utilizes a metal core with a cork-rubber material chemically bonded to both sides. The run a bit under $30 bucks and they are twice as thick as a regular valve cover gasket. But you won't ever have a leak with them. Summit sells them.

I use the plane jane Felrpo cork gaskets - they have been on the car over 5 years RTV'd to the covers. I have the covers off at least twice a year
for valve lash and still on the original gasket - no leaks. As far as best ditto JBreu

I have used the Fel-Pro cork laminate gaskets for years and they are probably some of the best sealing out there, but when I bought my fabricated valve covers I went with Moroso Perma-Align gaskets because I needed something that would keep it's shape no matter what since there is nothing but a flat rail on the valve covers and nothing to retain the gaskets.
They do not squish like other gaskets and require no sealant. I've had mine about 4 years and have my valve covers off at least a couple times a year.
