National weather channel and most of the regionals are offering nothing but grief and misery. Snow by the foot, inches of rain, tornadoes having cyclical sex on video; two shot on video turning themselves into one. Freezing rain, sleet, and ice pellets. And, of course the inevitable power outages. South of us, Duluth MN got 2 feet of heavy wet snow and the lake shore is still getting beaten on by the wind. One weather mook did a moisture comp and said that the typical percentage of air to water by proportion was 10:1 meaning that the snow was light and fluffy The crap around here is 3:1 meaning it is mostly water that is colored white. The media has taken to calling it "cement snow" because trying to lift or move it is about like taking a shovel and trying to move fresh cement during a pour.

Hope all the forum members in the danger zones are safe and warm, possibly in the garage with a project and actually having all the correct parts to getter done.

I'm in central NY and it's nearly all that's been on the news. We've received about 5-6" so far. Really nothing too bad though. They news makes it out like it's Armageddon ...

Honestly it wasn't that bad. I ran the snowblower once. It's gotta be 18"+ to get my attention.

Unless you got the lake effect off Superior it was generally yawn...

Right now it is mostly around the Niagara Falls region and headed for New England and the east coast. The Dakotas and Southern Mn got enough that they declared snow days; N-Dak sees it as a four day event. Here on the lake it is now down to flurries and general crap. Temp supposed to drop so it will be snow with slop underneath it. Still beats Kentucky and Tennessee; hear tell they also got freezing rain and ice in the Appalachians.

We had freezing rain near us. Was crappy for part of the day, but nothing we haven't dealt with before.

North and east of me looked like they got more crap than us.

We stayed wet in over my way. Somehow Hillsdale was still fighting it in the afternoon but everywhere else had it all under control.
