Can anyone recommend me a set of blocks to begin bodywork? And all the grits of paper that I'll need?

I think DuraBlock sells a whole kit in a box, I’ll go find mine and see if there’s a part number.

As for sandpaper, are you going down to bare metal or shooting over an existing paint job?

I'll second the Durablock set. As for paper 3M & Mirka would be good brands. For grits it'll depend on how much paint needs/will be removed, surface rust clean up, are you planning on wet sanding. Each level of sanding will use a differnt group of grits.

I see the Durablock kits but there are a few different ones. Just want to get the correct one for my needs.
Yes I am stripping to bare metal
So I was thinking 80, 180, 220 but get confused with that. What about 120 etc?

I have the 7pc durablock set . It is nice. 24" longboard paper in 36, 80 long board paper. 180 grit longboard roll. DA round paper in 220, 320 and a box of red scotchbrite and that will get you going for most bodywork.

Another tool for sanding would be a DA sander that would help on larger areas that you can block out on the final sanding.

Yep that’s the kit. That soap is friggin sweet to boot.
If you’re going to bare metal, go down to the 60 and lower range, especially if it isn’t a stock color. And if it’s lacquer paint, get some stripper.
If you get 3M stuff, see if you can get the purple professional stuff, is last a whole lot longer.

A good (and cheap) electric DA sander is the horrid freight DA polisher.

I started out blocking my whole car with 80 grit to take it down and it will show up any dings or dents that may not stand out normally
