im looking at replacing the body mounts at some point in the near future,,is this possible to do over a weekend period?? Providing everything goes perfect,,thanks

I have done it in about two hours with a lift and very clean car, BUT with a floor jack will take longer, could still do it in a weekend, but if a bolt spins the captured nut and you have to tear the interior apart and cut the floor, or you find that the top of the frame is rotted and you need to weld in the repair washers it can add a bunch if time to a very simple job

Ok thanks for the time and reply,,,i was kinda thinking the same thing,,,have a great weekend,,,cheers,,,

If every body mount bolt would come out easily it wouldn't take that long to R & R your body mounts, but the reality is this rarely if ever happens so the best way to approach this job is to plan on a worst case scenario and have all the tools and supplies needed on hand to make the job go easier.
Cage nuts spinning is a big problem and you will have to gain access to the area above the nut, I used my plasma cutter but probably a large hole saw or some other cutting tool will work.
I bought all new standard grade 8 bolts and nuts for mine (metric came on my car) and made new replacement cage nuts using 1/4" square washers and welding the nut to the washer and once I had all the body mounts replaced and the car squared up with the bolts loosely fit I then welded the washers in place and folded the flaps of metal back down that I cut with the plasma and welded them in.
I probably took me a day to do mine from start to finish without a hoist but I was prepared and I have everything in my garage to do the job.
I would start by spraying all your mounts with penetrating oil a few days before and test undoing the bolts with a hand ratchet to see which ones will give you a problem, if any start spinning you will have to gain access from above.

It is a job that can most likely snowball. All my bolts came out okay, and were in perfect shape. However the number 2 mount hole on my frame was rusted out and needed a washer welded in, so a two hour job turned into a month long job. From what I have seen online and in junkyards, the number 2s are the most likely parts of the frame to rust out.

The good thing is you only need a small 90 amp MIG welder to weld on the frame, but you will want a name brand welder.

ok,,which one is #2 mounting point,,its430 am and im to lazy to try to search it,,lmao,,also i do have access to a welder and i have various size hole saw,,

thanks for everyones time,,i appreciate it,,

From what I have seen its the two mounts right behind the two front tires and the two near the back bumper that are most likely to give you trouble I would at least have two of the repair washers at the ready from G Body parts so that doesn't hold you up

Here ya go

Id also like to chime in with.

Spray PB blaster on each bolt for the body mounts twice a day for a week. It will help keep the cage nuts in place.

For the back 2 in the trunk. my cage nuts spun. I actually took them out and used the old washer and the grade 8 bolts and a nut.

only took me a few hours to do with a jack. a long piece of wood will help lift the body off the frame.

Loosen one side. Take off the other, replace that side and leave loose. Then replace the other side. tighten them all down. It will help save you with alignment of the body.

Good tips also ghetto, that is my plan as well when I do mine this fall as I no longer have a lift to use
