My friend is suggesting now we take the body off to fix the rear frame rails and do all new lines. I'm skeptical about this, should we just try to raise body in rear to fix rails or would taking the whole thing off be better.

I didnt want to get super super involved but it looks like its headed that path

Body off. If the rails are that bad other areas are.

If you look at my thread you will see my frame was pretty good except for 3 body mount holes. But the rear in the trunk was fubar. 2 mounts on the body were pretty much gone. Nothing holding it to the frame.
My opinion is to pull it

the body will need to come off at some point and IMO the sooner the better, less damage to repair and even if there is no damage you can protect the body and frame so you don't end up with damage down the road. Also the rubber body bushings have past their expected life long ago so they need to be changed

The rear frame is very flimsy. I was able to separate the body and rear frame with the rear 3 mounts unbolted. I got the frame far enough down to slip the new fuel line in on my 70 chevelle and the 78 and up cars are weaker.

My frame was mint, except for several body mount holes... Rear rails were perfect. But three out of four body mount holes need to be repaired.

I'm going to get mine up in air like yours, I have limited space in garage so I'll have to work around it.

I have a hoist, so this weekend I'll be getting a new welder and mount kit, hopefully I will just be able to box in rear frame

Rear frame is already "boxed"... it's the top part of the frame usually needs help. And doing that with body on is impossible. At least the way I see it
