Brake to Wheel Clearance. What is Too Close??

I have heard people say 1/8 th inch for steel wheels and 1/4 inch for alloys

Heat isnt going to make a caliper grow a whole lot.

But flex wise you are going to want a minimum of ~1/8"

Well, I never had wheels almost grazing the calipers, but even though I didn't consider wheel flex as a possible danger, I'm quite sure I'd have put at least a 1/8" spacer to be sure there was no contact.
