I completed the 98 Blazer brake upgrade on my 81 El Camino (i posted pic's & info under What did u to your gbody today?). I can't figure out why the driver side caliper keeps leaking. I drove it for two days with no issues. This morning I damn near wreaked it because the brakes failed me. My question is for those of you who have completed the upgrade. How you route your brake hose ? I'm still using the El Camino brake hose.

Was the hose not tight enough at the caliper? I torqued my banjo bolts. To be honest it was a hair raising experience. It seemed impossibly tight, but they are torqued to spec.

Did you use new copper washers?

It's hard to be sure in the photo, but I don't see aluminum or copper peeking out from under the hose end. There should be dead-soft copper or aluminum washers on the caliper and banjo bolt sides of the hose end. They keep the joint from leaking.

What is the torque specs ? I lost one of the new brass washer so I reused an old one.

Where exactly is the caliper leaking? I have not done the upgrade yet but I have sold a bunch of sets. I always grab the blazer line brackets which mount the line connection vertically . I always figured guys were using the brackets . I'm not sure but mounted horizontally maybe the line is getting pulled on when you turn.. I'm sure someone will chime in...timo22

I believe not torqueing it was my problem. But I have washer on both sides of the bolt.
