My 88 monte burps and kicks the pump off if i filled at full speed like Turna said. Its a stock tank i assume. The vent 565 referenced is the fix as far as I know.

It's all ready to go in tomorrow
The insulator straps could be a 1/2 inch or so longer IMO, but for installation sake, the velcro holds well enough
Dixie finally got them in, waited over a month for them

Anyone know the sizes of fuel line hose I need?

For the two here, and the metal chassis line to the fuel pump inlet?

The old one wasn't necessarily bad, but looking through the sending unit shows it wasn't exactly good either

This tanks been out once before, but apparently it never had insulators, or metal spacers on the front bolts

Tank showed up with the filler neck outside the box, but apparently it's supposed to be like that (slowclap for FedEx)

Once the DMV renews the registration, I can drive it down to the station and see how it fills

If I have to come back and add the vent, so be it

I'm stuck on reinstallation

Between the new tank, new straps, and new insulators, the ends just won't meet

I'm off to Home Depot in search of longer bolts

longer bolts do help for sure.i put pressure on my tank with transmission jack to help.as stated before throwing a universal diff vent on the unused sender hose is cheap insurance.

Well it's in

The secret is a jack, stands, and great patience

Also your gonna wanna hit up Home Depot for some M10x1.5 bolts

I went for 95mm, a little shorter would do fine

With the new straps and insulators, it's tight with no play

Gauge seems fairly accurate too

6-9 gallons got it nearly on 1/2

I did have to tweak the filler neck a touch to clear the plate, I hope that doesn't cause a leak

I force filled it from the gas can with no problems, soon I'll get to try it at the pumps

Update, tested at the pumps for the first time
Nearly empty and the first gallon went flying everywhere
I'm just gonna add the vent
Can I tee in from the existing vent hose, or do I have to drill into the sender itself?
Of course I bought the 2 port model, replacing like for like
Maybe best practice for the future is just to automatically buy the 3 port model, and just vent it with the spare port
