Hey, I plan on breaking in a Comp Cam with my favorite 10W30 Quaker state Motor oil with a bottle of Comp Cams break in additive. Is this ok ?

Thanks Doug

Comp Cams break in oil or Joe Gibbs Driven

Not additives

Quaker State is one of the worst oils you can put in an engine along with Pennzoil

I've run a bunch of stuff through my Olds. Brad-Penn is the most stable on the mechanical pressure gauge that I've found. I went roller, so I'm not up on its ZDDP content. I do know that Valvoline VR1 and Lucas Hot Rod claim to have enough for flat tappet cams. Run of the mill crap off the Walmart shelf ain't gonna cut it.

With a new cam, you just need to remember these three words:

Zinc, Zinc, and Zinc.

If it's an Oldsmobile engine, no matter what oil you use you'll wipe every lobe off it! Seriously, start up is the one time you want all your "ducks" in a row. BradPenn (Kendall GTX) is good stuff as are the others named. Hopefully you have a break in stand. Have cooling fans, fire extinguisher, good battery, go over all lines plus a Helper. Good luck.
