Can anyone identify the orange things I'm seeing sitting on top my valves?

I have had a tapping sound in my in my new engine. Pulled intake and put camera into the valve areas in the heads. Anyone have any idea what that orange(?) stuff is/might be?

Gonna have to say it’s rtv. Especially see how some is missing from the gasket.

That's what I thought but I never use that color...
It's from the print-o-seal intake gasket, you can see some missing from several ports.

Might make a tick/soft knock as it compresses...once had a buddy that put an engine back into service after about 10 years, had a tick. Long story short, the carbon on the piston tops expanded when it got back in service and made noise

any ideas on how to remove it?

Tape some tubing to vacuum nozzle and access through ports or plug holes, or pull heads.

You could pull spark plugs and try blowing it out from the intake ports, but Id probably pull the heads because at this point can you trust the head gaskets?

When did the ticking start?

Was it *after* something was serviced? You mentioned "new engine*, so are you saying it's a fresh rebuild, or new crate?

Was the oil pressure checked with a gauge before disassembling?

Hearing the tick, before you took it apart may have been more useful to try and give some advice. Do you happen to have a video with it making the noise you can post?

I agree with others, that is likely just some of the RTV that pulled away when the intake was lifted and ended up in the port(s) by accident. I doubt it's the cause of your noise if it's just some strands of RTV..something non hardening like that would likely blow right out the exhaust valve if it wasn't burned up from the combustion. I'd be more concerned with too much of the RTV used on the china walls, and ports that falls into the lifter valley, and eventually into the oil pan that could get sucked into the oil pump pickup. It would take a lot, but it could happen.

IMO, embossed steel intake gaskets are better than the printoseals.
