Can I use an antenna windshield to replace a broken power antenna?

The car currently has a broken power antenna. What would it take to install an antenna windshield and hook up the radio to that and eliminate the power one?

I could not find a windshield with the antenna......but all there is a lead coming from the windshield that attaches the a cable that plugs into your radio....

You could do it. I believe it was 1981 or 82 when they eliminated the windshield antenna option on G-bodies. There may be later models with it, I'm not sure. I saw a couple a few years ago that I thought about picking one up just in case I wanted to fix the stupid U75 RPO the hard way. Not even sure if they make them any longer. It was almost 40 years ago since they last used them.

Either way, you could just snag one of those windshields, rout the pigtail through the cowl, and reroute your existing cable or get a new one to mate up with the pigtail.

BUT- you still have an antenna/bezel hanging around on your fender. If you remove it, you'll have a hole to fill.

I picked one up a few years ago from my local glass company with no trouble.

I had one put in my 78, but it was the factory setup. This 80 doesn't have it and I was wondering if there was some special wiring that I may be missing. Looks like all I need is and extension cable from the radio up to the glass.

I would rather fill the hole and get rid of it when the time comes. Right now I have an old broken antenna that doesn't go up and down.

The windshield antenna needs a conversion cable to get a Motorola end that will plug into the radio. The reception on them isn't that great from what I remember.
