Can I use an antenna windshield to replace a broken power antenna?

My 78 came with a windshield antenna, It doesn't work very well. Not much range with it.

That's a problem with your radio not the antenna. I have had a half dozen cars with it an never had a problem with reception.

Tried several different radios they all were about the same. Doesn't matter now I have XM Radio.

I have had quite a few Gbody's with both style antenna's and would always be able to get more distance with the standard antenna.

Most modern cars today are back to using glass embedded antenna's although many are using the rear windows now. It works very well if the antenna and head unit are in good condition. I have never had any issues with any of mine.
