The guy that used to own my car said that the motor is canadian, does that mean anything? could the whole car be possibly from canada and is there anything different about it that would make a difference

Canadian speedos will have km/h on the outside (primary) ring and mph on the inside ring.

The only difference in Canadian cars at that time was much less in the way of emissions. For example, my parent's 87 Cutlass does not have the CCC system (or air pump) - only emissions that came on this car was a cat, EGR, and a thermostatically controlled switch on the carb where the MCS resides on a US car - presumably to offer a slightly difference mixture when cold/hot.

The exception to this was the performance cars of the day (SS, TR, 442, H/O etc.) which all had the standard US emissions.
