After the day I've had I could really use another therapy session.

I got the call from a hysterical wife around 8 that her and the kids were in an accident. Luckily her and the the kids are ok, but not so good the car is probably totaled. It has been a bad luck car, wrecked 5 times, engine blown twice and recently the trans started having problems.
The complete drivers side is trashed now.

Sorry to hear about the accident, glad everyone is ok. Is that a BMW or a VW, or neither?

That is my wife's 2005 VW Jetta GLI. It was a very nice car until the warrantee was over than it went down hill quickly.

Is that right? I'm glad you said something, because my dad is looking at getting a new car as soon as we get through winter (currently drives '04 Camry Le, excellent car, but the miles are racking up) and he was strongly considering a VW. He will probably just buy another Camry, though.

If he gets a VW, change the timing belt 20,000 miles before it's recommended!! Ours broke 10,000 before it was recommended. That cost us about $5,000 to fix. Then it happened again about 30,000 miles later completely destroying the engine, that time cost around $9,000. Now at 170,000 miles the trans has started slipping which was going to cost around $1,000 to repair. The moral of the story don't buy a VW and if you do get rid of it before it hits 90,000 miles. This car has been a total nightmare. The wife wanted it so instead of getting her a new Chevy (which is what I wanted) I got her the VW......what a mistake that was.

He was also looking at the Chevy Cruze, so Chevy might not be a bad option either. He wanted an Impala or Malibu, but we aren't doing that good, lol.

Well you guys saw the aftermath of the last day the GLI was in our life. Tuesday we went to collect the insurance money for the car and clean it out. This was a very sad event for the misses, she shed a few tears, gave it a hug and a kiss good by. It was almost like going to a funeral for her. I don't know if she is over her loss yet but I did the best I could do for her. After cleaning the car out, we went to the bank to cash the insurance check and then I took her car shopping. A few hours later this was sitting in the driveway. Say hello to my (her) new tow rig.

It's a 2007 with 90,000 miles. LTZ fully loaded with every available option. Absolutely hands down the nicest vehicle I've ever bought. Best part is, it is a Chevy!!

Very nice truck!

Looks like I may be shopping in the not so distant future as well. My 03 Monte SS was hail damaged beyond the repair limit. The adjuster hasn't called me back to "tell" me what I'm getting for it though.

Been eyeing up this beauty....
