I haven't read all of the article, however, it looked like they pulled down some 14's in the quarter. Keep in mind all I've done is glanced at the article. I did notice something strange though, I think it stated that the car came with a non-turbo 4.1 liter V6. Didn't know they existed. That's one less anyways.

Turbo '82 GN's were super rare. Most got the cheaper 125 HP 4.1L. Rare doesn't equal good in stock form. Other than the seats and "the look", it didn't have that much going for it. They were rare because they were super expensive for 1982 and Buicks were a "fringe" car bought only by "Buick guys"

If I owned an '82 GN I would swap the motor/trans in a heartbeat for something good.... either an '86/87 drivetrain or Turbo LS.. Nobody needs a history lesson about how slow and pathetic Buick was in 1982. Life is too short.

But... they were a 4bbl rock with 21 more cubes than the 3.8L... but yes my 1984 AMC Eagle 4 door Sedan was faster. I actually tested it. A woman had a "Harry Gant" Skoal Bandit edition Regal with the 33 and all the stickers and what do you know, at a street light in 1985... it was on and Eagle wins. Even if the cops saw us racing, nobody was going to get a ticket.

That Harry Gant car was probably long since rusted away (it was Omaha after all and it looked like her husband made her daily drive it), but if it hasn't... the current owner probably thinks they are doing the world a favor leaving it stock. They are not.

:p

Just 4 years later... only 4 years, Car and Driver tested basically the same car with a 3.8L V6 and it did zero to 60 in 4.9 seconds... only .1 seconds away from 1/2 the time.

The time from 1982 to 1986 was probably the biggest night/day change in any 4 year period (that didn't involve a world war) in automotive history.
