I added one to our 1997 Grand Prix years ago. I used it in conjunction with the rear middle lap belt to hold the seat better. I used an eye bolt and some fender washers to help hold the top of the seat steady.
Built a harness bar with car seat tethers into my wagon. Kids are still alive. Link in the sig.

No, sorry. I put it on the parcel shelf. I used an eye bolt meant for a racing harness, not something you buy at the hardware store.
Across the body, basically a shoulder seat belt. I was going to do it for my kids booster/car seat because you can run it thru their seat and when they get older, use a booster, then nothing.

I recall I have it somewhere, but there is something either in the ordering books or some other Olds documentation with the mounting of a child seat in a G-body. Don't see why it wouldn't work for a Malibu.
Starting in 1985, laws were hitting the books about safety booster seats and mounting. I know GM had a "kit" to mount child seats. Combination of seat belt and anchor point. I never ever worried about it because I never had any kids. And even if I did, the only place they'd ride in my G-body was in the trunk.

If you have some fabbing skills, you could make a combo body stiffener/car seat anchor in the trunk, and use some ingenuity to slip the car seat straps through the gap between the seat back and package tray.
