Carb backfiring

I just bought an 85 cutlass supreme and I went in with the knowledge it needs carb work done but if wasnt accelerating properly and idled rough but under driving it was fine and got up to speed nicely but now it's running rough and backfiring through the carb any ideas on what that could be?

first thing I would check to see if the distributor is hold down is tight it might be loose and advancing the timing then next I would check the vacuum lines for leaks or rotted hoses good luck
