Hey Guys, i need your help!
I have a 87ér Olds 442.
I have a big problem with my ecm. Its not realy working - the car runs too rich.
I dont understand all the elctric junk. So i want to swap the ecm crap to a manuel carburator without ecm.

Wich componets do i have to replace for this project? Carburater, Distributor, whats with the gearbox?
Can somebody help?
Thank you very much.
Greetings Tom

Yes you need a carburetor, either a non CCC Qjet or the 625 Street Demon carb will bolt right on. Also one of the new Chinese EBay or a used vacuum advance HEI distributors will also work. You need a lock up kit or a toggle switch to control the lock up torque converter. You also need to ground the black wire at the speed sensor for the cruise control to work. Also the A/C relay also needs to be grounded as well, I believe.

The computer controls only a couple ratios of the A/F mix so if you have crappy economy I would first look at the cannister purge valve and make sure the choke is opening when hot

cannister purge valve?
what and where is it?
Depending what someone has done with the car, it may vary.

Being a 305 lg4, it 'should' appear about 6 or 8 inches in front of the carb and be a black plastic thick disc shaped piece.

But it will be between your carb and your charcoal canister in the engine bay.

Give me 5 minutes and I'll photo one on my 1985 lg4.

Forgive the dust, hoods been open on this one for about a year now. That round topped piece with all the various hoses going in and out.... thats one version.

Sometimes they also appear as part of the charcoal canister itself, especially if aftermarket replacement.

There are 4 vacuum lines on it.
3 are connectet whith the carburator
and 1 whith the cannister/manifold. Is this correct?
