quick question guys:

other than the gear at the bottom making it turn the opposite direction, are the sbc and sbo distributors the same? upon the engine teardown, there was alot of oil residue inside the cap/rotor/etc, and I still have the old ccc dist from the sbc I took out of the regal that was in good shape. I guess I'm just cheap and don't really want to shell out another $100 for a reman unit.... thanks for any input!

Not familiar with a ccc distributor, but I'm guessing if that means computer, then it probably doesn't have vacuum advance??? If it does have vac advance and it spin the opposite way, then it wouldn't work since vac can would be on wrong side of distributor and retarding instead of advancing. If it doesn't have a vac advance, pretend you didn't read this post and I'll pretend I didn't post it. LOL

CCC distributors do not have any vacuum advance, the computer does that job, alot less moving parts. Having said that I doubt the SBO and SBC distributors will interchange, not much interchages with the different small blocks. My concern would be the dist gear won't mesh 100% right with the cam and end up being chewed with metal bits getting all over the inside of the motor.

"IF" I remember correctly, Buick Olds Pontiac dist shafts are short and Chevy are long. I think the gears are slightly different but interchangeable.

I appreciate the responses guys, and yes, there's no vacuum on it...

I was going to run the olds gear on it if the bodies and shafts are the same, and bonnewagon, I'll def look into the lengths tomorrow. a reman unit runs $110 and I don't really want to run a junkyard one and have the same thing in a short amount of time..

I'll let y'all know wht I find!
