changing u joints

I have never cussed so much in my life while trying to change the U joints in my Hurst Olds , unsuccessfully I must ad .

go rent for free a ball joint remover, they work great on U joints as long as you have the ring locks removed

getting it apart was easy , back together , just aint happening

you remove a cap and slide that in half way, remove the other cap, put the u joint in and slide it into the cap that is half way installed, slide the other cap into the hole and carefully drive the caps in without upsetting any of the needle bearings....one they have seated put in the new locks...

I used to do them all the time and I thought I was pretty good at it. Then last time when I had an unbalanced driveshaft issue I took it to a shop. He showed me how I left them too tight. They replaced them and balanced the shaft. Much better.
