I’m doing this for the first time, it’s a 307. Seemingly an easy job....

I started on the driver side, and the outer 4 bolts came out easily. On the bottom there is one last one that is quite stubborn, and I am afraid I’m going to round it off and be stuck. I’ve sprayed pb blaster on it and tried it with 6&12 point sockets. any advice here? I put a cloth over the bold before I put the socket on, it still wants to skip when I torque on it

Also, my egr gasket was crumbling when I took it off to more easily access the valve cover. A small portion of it may have dropped in as I was taking it off. I placed a vacuum on the suspected drop location of the intake, should I be too concerned about that? Not even a square inch I’m guessing.

i don't know what the physical location of this repair as far as access goes but can you maybe put an extension on the tightest fitting socket you have and shock it with a hammer a few times?any chance you could introduce a small amount of heat and melt some birthday candle wax in to it?

If you have rounded of the head get a 11/32 12 point socket and use a hammer to drive it on.

Thanks for the tips. I'll try the 11/32 tomorrow along with a blow torch. I had to walk away today

The threads are 1/4" course thread, the heads are 3/8" factory, I should have been clearer.
