check engine lite- code 24

Occasionally I get a check engine lite- vehicle is an 83 cutlass 307 y code. I have cruise control, but at the moment the speedo isn't working due to the upper cable from the transducer being inop.

Is this the cause of the check engine code or???

Well, since code 24 is vehicle speed sensor....and the pickup is from the speedometer revolutions, then yeah, I'd bet that's the source of your issue.

You need a new upper cable, then.

GM p/n 25032595 (ACDelco# CC1102). 41.3 inches long. Superseded to 25032640 being the same length as well. (CC1007).

Superseded to GM p/n 25032869 (ACDelco #CC1021)

And finally superseded to ACDelco #CC1004, GM p/n 88959472. Available for $34.95 at Rockauto.com Says it's about 45" long.

You can find them all on ebay. The CC1021 can be had for $30 plus tax (free ship) on ebay. Pretty good deal for authentic ACDelco parts.

THANKS!!! I suspected that's what it might be, but didn't want to just throw parts at it. Car has been in the family since new, low milage at 65k, but time is catching up with it Thanks again!
