I thought maybe that's what you meant. My California '83 Malibu had the Buick V6 (231), while the rest of the country got the Chevy V6 (229). And the 305 was only available in the California model (I think?).

Canada got something too, maybe it was a non computer motor in 1980. Those are nice TA’s. You can yank the motor and put another Chevy in, like a stroker . And it looks factory and the shaker set up works.
