Hi everyone. First time posting, long time lurker. I found a lot of useful information on here but I can't seem to find anything that helps in my current predicament I recently replaced the 229 v6 in my el camino with a 1970 307. I've put about 200 miles on it so far then the other day I was getting off the highway and it stalled, I pulled off the road and tried to start it but It was acting like the battery was dead, so I jumped it and when it started it started knocking, so I shut it off and got it towed. The next day I started it again and it started knocking and making a squealing noise. I haven't really got a chance dig into it yet so far I've only pulled the valve covers hoping it was a bent pushrod or something but everything looks normal. I was hoping someone might give me a couple ideas before I pull the whole thing apart. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

It's done. Just look for another engine.

...and welcome.

I'd love to agree with the flexplate idea but the stalling and squealing point in another direction.

I'm gonna check the flexplate and bolts tommorow, if that fails I'm gonna start looking for a new engine unless there's anything cool I can do with this block without it costing a arm and leg. Thanks everyone
