Ok, I have searched and am coming up with conflicting (confussing) on a definite selection of motor and frame mounts. What I have is 1982 Malibu with a 229 V6. I am replace it with a 350/350 setup. Where can I get a set of frame and engine mounts and brackets. I am almost ready for this transformation, done bigger builds before, so I am no novice, just need to get these engine swap mounts right the first time. So, where can I buy these? Supply me with part numbers if you can.

It will be easier to give you the look ups to give to a parts store to get you what you need. For a 350/Turbo 350 setup going into a V6 car, you will need the following:

Offset V6 transmission mount - 1982 Malibu with 3.8 engine and auto trans. (you can reuse the one that is already there, but they are not very durable so they probably need changed)

SBC V8 engine frame side mounts - 1982 Malibu with 305 engine

You will also need motor side clamshell mounts that slip over the frame side mounts above. They can be found in most SBC equipped cars and trucks. I don't believe these are sold in parts stores, but junkyards or ebay will be your friend here. There is some variance in heights between applications, so try to look for a set that originated in a car for maximum hood clearance. I have C/K truck clamshells in mine, and they work fine but sit about an inch higher.

Good luck with your swap and don't forget to upgrade the radiator.

Ideally the best source for the engine side mounts would be '73-'88 A/G bodies with SBC, possible '73-'75 with BBC, '77-'96 B bodies with SBC Gen I & II. As Wageslave stated above hood clearance could be an issue with some tall truck sets. Always make sure they are a matched pair (same p/n's), for this reason be careful getting mounts off a '82-'92 F body as they use a left & right but one is the same as what our cars use.

Just buy the frame mounts for an SBC equipped G Body (84 Monte 305). Here are some links...

FYI...I bought a set of the OER engine side mounts linked above and they were an exact match to the GM ones that were on the SBC 400 in my car. I bought tHE OER's because I thought the GM ones I had might be for a truck. When I realized I had the correct brackets all along (the GM ones), I gave the OER's to a buddy on here. My SBC 350 is in my car with these brackets so I know they work with no issues.

I actually was running the truck clamshells in my El Camino. They worked fine when I was running a carb, but when I put TBI on hood clearance became a big issue.

Ok, ordered my clam shell enginr mounts and frame motor mounts from Summit. Finally go arounf to pulling the V6 and attempted to install the V8. Mounted the frame, mounts, and lowered the engine. Spent 4 hours trying to get engine to align with the mounts. Still not in. I mounted both with the 4th bolt hole hanging over the front of the engine cradle. Seems to anout a 1/2 inch from being able to align up. I'm lost with what to do. The frame mounts are mounted exactly as on the exple picture. What coikd I possibky be doing wrong? I'm thinking that Summitt sent some screwed up motor mounts. Need your advice HELP.
