I’m looking for help in trying to find some new control arms for my 79 Elco. I thought I read somewhere in another thread that certain year Blazer and S10 arms will work, but I can’t seem to find it now. I’m not looking to go the tubular route just yet, I need to save money for other things but I definitely need some new ones. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Where are you located? Are yours rotten or just full of used-up bushings and ball joints?
I’m in South Florida. Mine aren’t in terrible shape, but they definitely need to be replaced. I worry though if I have my buddy try and press new bushings in, then they might crack because the person I bought the car from really beat on it.

I changed the upper control arm bushings on three or four different cars using a Matco air hammer. Did them in the car. It took about 45 minutes on the easy side and about an hour on the hard side (Depends on what is in the way.) I have an 84 camino I'll be getting to (hopefully) this summer. I'll look tomorrow and see if they can be done the same way. It was really pretty simple.

Just buy the new aftermarket MOOG arms.

By the time you buy all the bushings, ball joints and then try to make the 30+ year old arm s look decent you could have just bought new for less money.

Lots of guys are using them and are even using the less expensive Dorman arms with zero issues

I was disappointed to not see them listed on RockAuto. Dorman lowers only. I went on the Moog site and they don't list them for El Camino.
Speedway still lists them.
