What all do I need to do this. Some say a different steering column, some say a cable operated shifter. I also plan on long tube headers and see some won't work with a column shifter.

You need the shifter with cable, You also need the bracket that holds the cable to trans and then comes the tricky part. If want the reverse lights, neutral switch and the selector to show on the dash you need the bracket that the rod goes into now have provisions for both the cable and the rods. Headers wont change, IF you need part numbers or pics pm me and Ill get you part numbers and pics
