I kinda wish I had pulled the trim off the car when I bought it 3-4 years ago.

I am trying to decide if I am going to buy complete patch panels or make them.

Grinder and paint make me the welder I ain't.
Lol.... that's similar to what i told PontiacGP awhile back. I'm not a great welder, but i can lay a bead good enough to hold. However, I've become pretty damn good with a grinder to clean up all the boogered welds!

Weight reduction continues. Bye-bye seam sealer and grime.

Looks like I am getting the old gutted doors off of my buddy Kev's car.

It used to be a show car. LOL.

Honestly I am hoping the car is well built but a bit ratty. ;)

Can anyone think of a reason that I cannot cut off these pinch welds (highlighted in red) other than having to re-weld along the seams? I am pretty sure all of that flashing was just for assembly of the body panels. I can easily find a new means of hanging the harness.

I figure I can chop out some weight and make reassembly result in far fewer cuts on my hands and forearms if I remove it.

Take the weight off the front of the car, keep it in the rear for traction.

I would assume they did it that way for strength, GM's version of a bead roll.

Thing is by the time I start "upgrading" parts were are going to see even more weight go back into the car. It is an unfortunate reality. That and after taking both cars apart it was a noticeable PITA to get the back end off the car. So when it comes to time sit the body on the frame (delete the body bushings completely; going to literally go body on frame (and weld it together)), I don't think the potential for flex is going to be an issue - nor do I want to fight the pinch welds again when I have to blow the car apart (again).

The plan is to put a full fiberglass clip, rack and pinion, and chop off the frame horns (among other bits like suspension) to get the front end light.

My goal here is to push 600hp into the low-10s (high-9s?) with a sub-3000lb car, not need 800+hp to do the same with a 3500-3700lb bucket.

Light car, little motor, lots of revs, silly noises, etc.
