I know there are panels that go between the core support and the nose of the car to direct air into the radiator, I'm sure I need those too. 😆

But is there anything that's supposed to fill the gap between the core support and the radiator?

I feel like something should prevent air from going around the rad.

Only ones that got a panel on top of the radiator support was the Monte SS. Others got a rubber flap on the sides of the radiator opening.

When I parted out my '86 Monte parts car (305) years ago there wasn't any rubber flaps or any signs there ever was.

The Monte SS has a 4 sided enclosed shroud to keep the air going through the radiator, my Regal came with just the rubber flaps beyond that you would probably have to fabricate something.
Gbodyparts list these as Oldsmobile rubber baffles so maybe that is what they mostly came on and my Regal did have an Olds in it.

But everything I've seen is to direct air into the core support. I haven't seen anything that closes this gap to force it through the radiator instead of around.

I think most Gbody's came with AC which means from the factory the AC condenser would probably be in the way of having something there to direct airflow into the radiator so it shouldn't be to hard to make something yourself to fill the gap between the radiator and the core support without a condenser there.

Never seen flaps on a Malibu/Camino. But, you have to remember, they had pretty stout clutch fans that draw a LOT of air. Mine draws well enough that it will suck leaves out of the bottom of the shroud and throw them at you while working underhood if you let the car sit outside a couple of days in the fall.

that last part's news to me
Not all got them for what ever reason but I have seen them on every model except malibu. My 79 El Camino had them, not sure if it was because it was a V6/manual car without A/C. Seems to be more common on Cutlass & Regals.
