UNFORTUNATELY I had to replace the intake gasket on my 83 H/O due to coolant leak. But I am so glad I removed the intake. I found this in #8 intake port. Then i figured out what it was and where it came from. This car has 23000 miles on it, I'm the second owner. The first was a friend of mine. Intake has never been off. Wonder how long it's been sitting on the valve???? Wonder if it has damaged the valve. I never would have found this if it wasn't for the coolant leak. But then again, maybe I would have........

GM clearly not thinking when they put those in that intake. I'm like you in wondering if the valve is ok. Could do a leak test on that cylinder to see if there are any problems.

This is where an inspection camera would be good. I am thinking no damage but a compression test should tell a lot.

Where was this car hiding with 23,000 miles on it in 30 years? Lucky for you it spent time in hibernation so this problem didn't get worse.

Looks like the stud worked loose and fell into that runner. Glad Chevys don't use studs like that.
