See if I have this straight according to some research. Calling all the paint and body experts here

* I have my complete underbody stripped of all paint and e-coat and all rust has been removed. I have a completely down to bare metal substrate.

* I have noticed there is no seam sealer on the underbody at all, what was there was just under coating I believe this was to allow the metal panels to breathe and dry out when wet. Although many seams were partially sealed over the years with road grime, more undercoating, mud, etc. I assume this allows our cars to rust more, correct?

So I have these questions

1. Should I apply an epoxy coat after I am done with all welding to all bare metal underbody?
2. Should there be any seam sealer used over the epoxy primer in the seams on the underbody?
3. I have been applying a chassis saver like POR15 over the half wet coat of epoxy primer with decent results, I have had no peeling on the existing painted parts that I welded up so i could structurally place the car on the car rotisorie.

I have heard so many good things about these 1 part high solids rust preventer, but also what I have heard is that nothing will stick to them once applied and cured. SO I want to insure that if using seam sealer it will be ok to place over the chassis saver or should I use a bare metal seam sealer (fusor 019 bare metal seam sealer) then cover it with epoxy prime and chassis saver.

IIRC por15 should be on the bare metal.

Thats what I did. i stripped under the car of the rubber ccoating and cleaned it up and just sprayed por15 on it. and brushed the areas i couldnt reach.

Magnet Paints (chassis saver producer) has a 1-800 number I called to ask about painting over the epoxy with Chassis Black from Eastwood (spray paint). He told me the exact time frame I could cover chassis saver with another paint etc. Give them a call and they will answer all your questions.
