Hey all,

To all who have the experience with doing a beefier transmission swap..

I'm swapping a big block in my '85 elco and along with it a new transmission. From the stock th350 to a th400. My question is will the stock crossmember suffice or am I gonna have to scrap it and have another installed? Thanks!

Should be able to use one for a TH200-4R as long as the TH400 is a short tail shaft. Your frame should have the extension for the TH200-4R crossmember already.

Dito Pagrunt - Don't know how much power you plan on putting down but with that big block I would think about boxing the frame. Here is another idea for you.

The frame is really flimsy and gets strength from bolting it to the body anything you do is a plus.
