Does the ecm control the cruise at all? Everything under the dash is still there, all I did was remove the ecm and the cruise pod bracket. It's an 85 so it doesnt have that ugly *ss setup on the fender.

Judging by the diagrams I've seen and multiple threads I've read, the ecm has no effect on cruise except asa ground I think.

I believe the ECM does have a small connection and function regarding the AC. Although I have not examined the binary file (programming) for an '85 G-body, I have looked into the binary file for a '92 S-10 and the ECM does increase the idle RPMs whenever the AC is turned on. So, that raises the question: how does a non-ECM vehicle with AC make this adjustment?

Idle up solenoid on the carb. Little plunger opens throttle a bit when AC is turned on.

Yes, it is supposed to be the ground at the speed sensor in the dash, the black and yellow wire I believe.

The cruise. I would think you would tie in the idle up solenoid to come on when the A/C does. I never got either the factory A/C or cruise to work on mine. The A/C had a bunch of melted wires, like everything on this 88's shitty wiring, I bypassed it with a toggle switch. I find the servo bellows are usually toast, I tried a the ground at the speed sensor, a new cruise module but the servo leaked, they are expensive to replace, if you can find them. If you push in the bellows, hold your finger on the vacuum opening and it goes back, your servo is toast or use a hand vacuum pump. I picked up a complete older system that supposedly worked. It didn't, the servo bellows were leaking. I fixed it with RTV and then it worked. It seems really surging now, so I must not have a perfect seal. The idle up motor, just tie into the wire the turns on the A/C compressor and ground, simple. The whole point is to bump up the idle with the A/C on.

My cruise worked before just fine, i just removed the diaphragm/bracket, and ecm and vacuum ball. everything else is still there. so it should work with little effort.
