Two steps forward, three back.

My original plan was to use a flat top V8 Cutlass shroud on my 81. Found one in really nice shape at a yard a few years ago. Cleaned it, painted it and put it in. When I was tweaking the transmission cooling lines the side of the shroud got pretty scratched up. I wound up stipping it, priming it on Sat. and painted it low gloss black on Sunday, Looks real nice. I put it back in today.
Now that everything is going together I happened to notice the shroud sits up kinda high. I really thought the one piece shroud was a drop in thinking how could it be that different from Olds to Chevy ? Space to the blades looks good. Depth looks good. Height, not so good. I guess I should have searched the threads before I put it in. Funny thing is Ive seen Malibus and Montes using that shroud.

Is the two piece Malibu/Monte shroud the only way to go as far as OEM ?

And my friend has a Cutlass one on his Malibu

I took it out of a Cutlass at one of the yards that I used to go to. Probably an 85-86. It was the only one they had with a V8. What really pisses me off is Ive had it for close to 9 years thinking it would work. Now I have to check the attic in the garage to see if I have the one that came with the car.

I don't think it is from a Cutlass either. It looks weird but doesn't look bad unless it bothers you that much.Hopefully Turnas pic will clear up the mystery.

Its not the way it looks, I wanted a one piece shroud. The issue is I think its too tall and the hood isnt going to fit. It came from a Cutlass.

I just looked at a pic of my Cutlass from before the swap and it looks the same.

But I know for a fact my friend has a Cutlass shroud in his Malibu and it clears no problems
