Bought a set of front springs to install. Waiting on control arm bushings before I put them in because I don't want to do the job twice..

Thinking I should cut a quarter coil off the springs, just for sh*ts and giggles. I'm assuming I cut the end without th white paint?

They ends just look more similar than I was expecting.

That is correct, you cut the end that isn't flat. Drop should be about double what you cut off the spring. You may even go as far as a half coil, but I'll let the others chime in. I went this route years ago on my Crown Victoria.

Neither end is what I'd consider flat in comparison to other springs I've installed. Lol.

My car sits higher now with a v8 in it than it did with the v6. I'm not really trying to lower it. I just don't want it sitting higher than factory.

I'm thinking 5660 springs -1/4 coil, .5" taller lower ball joint. And depending on the height I'll enter trim the spring a little more or look into drop spindles.

I would go with drop spindles to keep the ride and to keep the steering geometry correct

I cut 1/2 a coil off of mine with 1/2 inch upper ball joints and Blazer spindles with 17X8 wheels and 245/45 tires.

I cut a 1/2 coil off mine, but unfortunately it's still a rolling frame with no body , so no pics to compare.

Top image is right after installing 5660's minus 1/2 coil. Bottom image is same springs but with 1/2" taller upper and lower ball joints and a couple of years of driving and obviously a little different angle. Should only be 1/2" difference in ride height, but I know it looks like more. Maybe the 5660's did settle a little or my wife is holding it down a bit in the second photo? The only complaint I have with the 5560's is related to shock absorbers. I had new KYB gas a just on my car and they did not have enough rebound control for my springs. I switched to Ridetech HQ series single adjustables and I'm very pleased with the ride and handling.
