That looks damn good.
Thanks! I agree. I need to get over there and fit the heat shield for the starter and wrap the exhaust on the passenger side. I also need to help him with the last of the trim. Still, i love that he's getting some enjoyment out of the car. It's come a long way from this....

Wanted to post this since its Dad's thread. Here he is with his second car, a 57 Ford. He was about 17. Circa 1967. His little sister took this picture and she recently found it and sent this image to dad. I thought it was pretty cool....

Dad very recently acquired a refurbished set of trim for the sides of the bucket seat seatbacks. They are very nice. Someone spent a lot of time straightening, sanding and polishing these....

There are hand prints on the trim in the passenger side picture above. Not the best pic of that trim piece but check out the floor mat. These are reproductions of what would have come in the car. They fit very nicely and we like them better than the carpet ACC mats. The ACC mats don't have heel pads and they wear very quickly.

Dad is going to meet a guy sometime today to check out a complete power window/power door lock setup. It would take a lot of work to put it in but we'll see what happens.

Dad bought the power window/lock setup (pics to come).

From Dad: "I bought them. The switch on the console locks the windows from children. This guy is 75 years old. Ford guy all the way. Has several cars. Six of them in the storage where I met him. Has two 64 Galaxies. One a true 427 four speed XL and one 289 XL with 78 thousand original miles. Also 3 Mercury Cougars. One is an original 427 car, the other two are 390 and 351. Power windows were removed from a 63 box top in 1978 by him for the 64 289 XL but he never got it done and feels now like he is too old. Has several 427s and lots of parts."

Sean and Dad took their cars to a show early this evening. I didn't make it there. I had to work today.

I love this time of year when the cars come out of hibernation and it's still cool enough to enjoy them

Sean and dad said the turnout at that show was pretty light. It used to be a big show every Saturday night, especially in the spring and fall. It was real overcast so that may have kept some of the cars home yesterday.

Dad's been driving the car quite a bit lately and even though it isn't perfect I think he's getting some enjoyment out of it.

The car has come so far. It runs good, blows cold air, looks amazing and has overdrive. The Gearvendors unit was a pain to install but really kind of makes the car. We take it to breakfast most Saturdays. Here's a pic from my front porch watching dad head back to his house...

Dad recently made a nice improvement to the car. He bought a true four-speed console top plate, the correct Ford boot (a reproduction) and the correct boot retainer. The four-speed top plate and boot retainer are fairly rare pieces.

Before this, his setup was a blank console top plate that he cut for the shifter and then put a Hurst boot on.

Unfortunately, the Hurst boots that are made overseas these days are very stiff and prone to splitting. They increase the effort required to change gears.

This change fixed that problem. A wrinkle though was that his Hurst stick had a rectangular profile, while the opening in the stock boot is round. He ended up finding a Hurst stick with a round profile that had the right shape to fit the application. Now it looks and feels right....
