Anyone try the dart platinum iron eagles?

Wanted to build a 12 sec car, then found some 215cc runners for nothing to put on 355.

Th350 4200 stall 4.56 28"tire mech. cam.

215cc a little overkill but had to get them.

Any thoughts? Anyone have them?

They are a very good head. They had their place when aluminum heads were more expensive. But now it doesn't really make sense to spend money on steel heads for a race car when you can get the weight savings of aluminum. My friend had a 355 with the Sportsman II heads on it and it ran really well, but a set of AFR 195 heads would now outperform them. But if I had them, I would find a way to use them.

This a street or track car? With that converter and gear I'm gunna guess track.
I'd use them but they'd perform better with a higher compression like 12.5-13.5 And a good solid lifter, roller cam
But I don't think it will run in the 12's...more like low 11's
My Malibu has a 383, Older Sportsman ll cast heads with a little work done on them, 660-680 lift cam 12.8:1 compression, 5000 stall, 5.13 gears, 14.5x32 tires
Runs 6.40's - 10.20's

Cool stuff clarmo, that's quick.

Yes it will be track only

My 12.50 Malibu is a sedan, 383 with 76cc stock smog iron truck heads, .490cam 110 236@50 cheapo 10" 3000stall 4.11 26"slick traps at 6k.

With this build I'm hoping to see 12.00..

Almost done build 81 Malibu coupe gutted no radio heater or exhaust system. 355 dish piston with the dart 64cc 215heads.
Brand new full machical holley750 electric water and fan, bat in trunk 5gal fuel cell drag lites all around

Th350, had a 4200 8" built. 4.56 28"slick
Cam is solid flat tappet, 510 530, 106lobe 242@50. I'd image shift and trap at 6400

11s would be cool but not sure if I'll be that lucky..
Unless you think I will haha

Alcohol loves iron heads because they retain heat in the chambers much better vs aluminum.
My car picked up about 3tenths when I switched to alcohol.
Get some compression in that motor and pour the alcohol to it. You'll be looking for a 9" after that!

11's should be do able. I see your fairly new here (welcome) My Regal has a stock 350 L-82 short block w/ 2.02 chevy iron heads, comps 306s cam, 750, Vic Jr, 4500 converter & t-400, w/ 4:30 gears, 28s on back. It runs 11.20. As Clarmo said since your a track only car methanol would be a thought w/ the performance advantage and it's cheap. I picked up 3 tenths also. As for the iron eagles which ones are they.
