Hello, I have a ‘79 Malibu Wagon and I took the gauge cluster housing out to swap out the bad clock. All the gauges and dash lights worked at the time.
I bought a replacement plastic housing out of a Monte Carlo because my original has alot of broken or cracked screw housings.

When I re-installed it, none of the gauges work nor lights. I checked fuses and connection wire in the back.

Is it possible the circuit boards on the back of the gauge housings are different? I attached a photo of what I mean by circuit board.

If this is a possible issue, how do you get those off? They are held in by the metal connectors for the gas, water, oil and volt gauge.

Is the MC dash the same as your Malibu dash? Or does the MC dash have individual guages and your Malibu had the long speedo?

The dash itself is the same

The gauge pods in both depends on the options

Both came with long speedo or round up to 1981

If your referring as to the base gauge cluster MC's only had round speedo's regard less of full gauges or idiot lights. Malibu's/Elky's/Caballero's were rectangle speedo's with idiot lights & round with gauges until '81 with '82 up being the same as the MC.
