Oil type depends on what you have in there. If you have a clutch style posi, then 80w90 gear oil and additive for the clutches. If open or gov lock, then either synthetic 75w90 or 80w90 gear oil either will work.

It 's more important to not mix gear oil with synthetic and vice versa rather than be concerned about which to use.
Yes, there isn't a single posi on the market that recommends synthetic. I was surprised even the Trutrac says mineral gear oil only. Yah, the Gov Bomb, who cares either way. I used 75W90 synthetic in my 8.6" Gov Bomb, no explosions. Of course I also use 75W90 then 75W140 synthetic in my Dadge 8.25" Trak Lok.
